Thanks for Stopping By!

We may have had a small crowd, but I couldn't be happier with our Holiday Party. I had smiling parents and sugar-high happy children decorating yummy cookies in my office this weekend! Add in yummy snacks and a round of PictionaryMan, and it made for a great afternoon.

Congrats to Joshua and Sarah, and Tonya and Cisco! Each of their families won $100 gas giftcards!

Thanks again! Hope to see more friendly faces at our next event!

Making Your Apartment Fire Safe!

Fire is perhaps the most dangerous and deadly of all home emergencies. Protecting your apartment from accidental fire is one of the most important things you will ever do for yourself and your family. Let this checklist be your guide:

—Keep combustible materials away from heat sources such as chimneys, water heaters, portable heaters, etc.

—Store combustible materials away from stairways and walkways (they could block your exit in a fire). Do not store, use or carry flammable liquids in open containers.

—Keep ovens, range-tops and exhaust fans clean of grease.

—never leave cooking , candles or open flames unattended.

—Replace worn or frayed cords, plugs or wiring immediately.

—Quench fireplace fires completely before retiring.

—Inspect smoke detectors monthly.

—Establish escape routes from your home and know where to meet outside.

—make sure all windows can easily be opened from the inside .

—In the event your clothing should catch fire, stop what you’re doing, drop to the floor and roll around until flames are extinguished.

Maintaining Your Garbage Disposal

Having a garbage disposal is a great amenity in any home. However, we as renter’s are still responsible for the proper use of your disposal. To keep your disposal running well, and to keep your drains clear, please follow the following tips:

*Run cold water while the disposal is on. Keep disposer and water running for 30 to 60 seconds AFTER the waste matter has cleared your drain. The waste still has a distance to go. Cold water keeps the motor, bearings and shredder assembly from overheating. It also lets the waste go down easier because the water is pushing it down.

*Keep anything too hard out of the disposal. The shredder will dull and become less efficient. Small hard objects can also get stuck and jam the rotating parts. Do not put hard bones, shells or popcorn kernels down the disposal.

*Do not put fibrous or starchy items in the disposal. Both can cause particularly stubborn drain blockages (fibers get tangled, and starches get thick). The following items should not be put down your disposal:

Banana peels, celery, potato peelings, corn husks, arti chokes, eggshells, coffee grounds or
filters, fruit pits, hard seeds, or onion skins.

*Avoid placing trash or hard items down the disposal. Common sense will go a long way, but here are some examples of items to avoid:

Twist ties, pull tabs, rubber bands, glass, screws, nails, utensils, cigarette butts, bottle caps, fabric,
string, rags, plant or flower clip pings, toys, hair or grease.

*Remember that using a disposal is not a method of reducing garbage. Putting things down the disposal that can cause a clog can cause a potential problem for the neighbor below or next to you.

Following these simple tips can save you and you family the time and hassle of having a clogged sewer line, broken garbage disposal, or clogged sink!

Order a Pizza and Support The Fallen Officers of Lakewood Police

Local Papa John’s stores will donate 100 percent of their profits on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 8 and 9, to the families of the four slain Lakewood police officers.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families. Hopefully, not just businesses will get behind this, but the whole community,” district operations manager Matthew Edwards said. “These are the people who serve us on a daily basis and this is how we say thank you. We just want to let them know that we appreciate what they do.”

Papa John’s has about 40 locations in the greater Puget Sound area, including three in Kitsap County.

A Letter From Your Manager....

Happy Holidays! I can't believe we are already fast approaching the end of the year! Most of you know I have been out of the office after welcoming my beautiful new baby boy into the world. As I eased back into my position after 10 whole weeks, I was overwhelmed by greetings from great residents like you. It was hard leaving my new baby home and returning to work, but you made it so much easier. I would like to thank all of our residents for their warm welcome back! You are what makes my job so rewarding!
After being gone for so long, I'm still playing a bit of catch up in the office. I'm noticing new faces and am eager to meet all the new residents who joined our community during my maternity leave.
So to my new and continuing residents alike, stop in and share a coffee break with me. I'd love to hear from you!

Warm Regards,

Shauna Hebert
Business Manager

Are You A Responsible Pet Owner?

Providing for your pets' physical needs and caring for them with love and commitment are the first requirements of responsible pet owners. But these are not the only requirements. Pet caregivers cannot reasonably or responsibly ignore the impact their animals can have on neighbors. This is especially true of those living in multifamily rental properties.

Here are a few commonsense rules to keep your neighbors happy--and your pet safe!

Responsible Owners:
*Clean up after their pets and dispose of the waste in a sanitary manner. Not cleaning up after your pet can lead to fines as defined in your rental agreement.
*Keep their dogs on leashes at all times when outside the home.
*Help their cats stay safe and live longer by keeping them indoors and away from situations where they could become a nuisance.
*Ensure that their dogs or cats are licensed and outfited with visible identification at all times.
*Obey local animal nuisance laws (which generally define "excessive noise" by any animal as continuous or incessant for a period of ten minutes, or intermittently for one-half hour, to the disturbance of any person at any time day or night)
*spay or neuter their dog or cat to improve health and behavior of the animal and to prevent their animal from adding to the problem of pet overpopulation.
*Maintain an active flea-and-tick control program so these pests won't spread to neighboring units, the common areas of the building, or public parks.
*maintain a pet emergency kit that includes an emergency plan and supplies in the event the home must be quickly evacuated because of a disaster.
